What Is A Composite Shed?

If you’re looking for a reliable and – crucially – durable storage solution for your garden, you might have seen something called a composite shed during your research. In fact, you probably have, as they’re extremely popular. However, seeing the words and knowing what that is and why it might be the best choice for you are two different things, and it’s wise to get to know what’s what before making a choice. With that in mind, read on to find out what a composite shed is and why you might want one.

What Does Composite Mean?

It’s a good question, with a relatively simple answer (that’s always a good thing). A composite garden shed is made using a combination of materials, usually a mixture of plastic and wood fibres. This combination means that you get the best of both worlds, and the resulting shed is durable, long-lasting, and it looks good too because it’s fairly weather-resistant. You’ll end up with a fantastic shed for your storage needs and you won’t have to do much to it once it’s installed.

Features Of Composite Sheds

These sheds come with various features that make them an excellent choice for your garden. For one thing, they’re often put together using tongue and grooved planks, making them extra sturdy and able to withstand all the elements – very useful in British weather!

You can also choose to have double door access, which can be useful because double doors mean you can store larger items, like lawnmowers or other equipment, in the shed and keep them safe and protected.

The apex roof of a shed makes it look great, as it’s a traditional look that wouldn’t seem out of place anywhere, but there’s a practical element too; when you have an apex roof design, the rainwater runs off and doesn’t pool like it would on a flat roof, for example, meaning there’s less chance of any leaks.

Or you can have the reverse apex options if you prefer. The reverse apex makes the shed much more flexible because it’s easier to fit into more awkward spaces, ensuring you don’t lose too much garden and can still have a useful storage solution out there.

Benefits Of Composite Sheds

Features are fun, but benefits are better (or so they say), and luckily, these sheds have a wide range of benefits to enjoy, more so than plastic sheds or other materials.

It is a highly durable kind of material to use, so your garden shed will last for many years – much longer than a traditional wood shed would last. Plus, it will be a lot more resistant to rot, decay, and pests.

Even better, they are very low maintenance. Wooden sheds will need regular painting or staining to keep them looking good and protected, but you don’t need to do that with a composite shed, so you’ll save a lot of time and effort (and money) over the years.

You can get sheds with built-in shelves and hooks, so no matter what you need to store there will be room for it (and when you don’t have to use floorspace, you’ll have even more room).

Finally, they just look great. They’re sturdy, they come in a range of colours, and they don’t get weathered, so your garden shed will always look good in your outdoor space and not start to become an eyesore as the years roll by.
